About
One guide, two languages.
HowPaano started from a narrow problem. Most practical how-to writing online is in English, and the Tagalog versions are usually machine translations of it. The result is instructions that are technically correct and completely unreadable to the person who actually needed them.
Every guide here is written twice. The Tagalog is not a translation pass over the English. It is written as Tagalog, with its own examples and its own phrasing, by someone who would use it.
Three subjects, deliberately
Narrow and deep beats broad and thin. The whole site covers three things:
- Technology. Device decisions, staying safe online, and the tools people actually open every day.
- Outdoor Life. Travel and outdoor trips, focused on preparation and real cost rather than on photographs of a view.
- Money. Budgeting, saving, and the practical mechanics of personal finance in the Philippines.
Text only
No photographs, no video, no autoplay, no popups. There are two reasons. Text loads on a weak connection, which is the connection a lot of readers have. And a how-to that needs a picture to be understood is usually one that was not written clearly enough.
That will change when there is a reason for it to change, not because every other site does it.
How this is funded
The site may carry advertising through Google AdSense. Advertisers have no input into what gets written or how it is written. When something is recommended here, it is because it was used. The privacy policy has the detail.
